Show Notes

Business psychologist Dr. Julika “Jules” Novkova joins host Jeremy Rivera to unpack the human side of running a small business — why founders freeze, what creativity actually means in a “boring” service business, and why authenticity is alignment rather than a public-facing mask.

Jules’ PhD research on creativity and innovativeness turned up something counterintuitive: no single personality trait guarantees a creative leader, but one trait reliably destroys creativity — rigidity. “If you are rigid and inert, you can’t show creativity or innovativeness, even if you have them as natural gifts.” Her work since has been helping founders debug their mindset.

Quotable

“Without action, business is just having good idea.”

“Business is an activity created by humans for humans. And for humans it’s never enough to do the right thing or to use the right tool. It’s always about feeling right while using the right tools or doing the right thing.”

“Creativity is by design the way you make decisions.”
