Choir at five, dancing before rapping

He sang in a gospel choir from about five to seven, grew up on Motown and Michael Jackson, and got into performance as a dancer doing Jackson impersonations before he ever made his own music.

His first project came out in 2010. Everything since has been a slow argument with the sound he started from, which is the part most artist origin stories skip.

Being a business, not a talent

The most transferable part of this episode has nothing to do with music. He formed a company, put merchandise under it, and built a roster covering several genres rather than staying a single act.

He started wrestling professionally the year before this recording, works for an independent promotion, has done backstage commentary and wants to move into a managerial role.
